Anyone who is concerned with their rankings on the search engines likely has heard of the Panda update that was released in February, 2011. The Panda update was intended to filter out “thin” or “low-quality” content on websites like content farms that just reproduced and redistributed duplicate content. The update initially had a negative impact to many company websites, large and small.

I came across this great infographic from an article on Search Engine Land which explains what the Google Panda Update is, who was affected by it, and what was included in the update versions over the past year.

The bottom line with the Panda Update is that you should produce quality content for your website. What is not answered in this infographic are definitions of what Google sees as quality content. To answer this, you can refer to an article on the Google Webmaster Central blog titled  ”More Guidance on Building High-Quality Sites.”
